It is hard to believe we are 3/4 of the way through the year. September is almost here. No complaints on our end.
Comparing flows to last year, we are way ahead of where we were. Water temps are stable and relatively cool. The trout look much healthier then a year ago.
Day time temps have not been pushing 90. Night time temps have been reaching mid 50s. Doesn’t quite feel like August but we’ll take it!
The Isonychia is one of two Mayflies in our stream that is an undulating swimmer, meaning it has the ability to swim upstream.
They crawl up on the rocks and emerge from their shucks to continue their bugly duty.
Along with Slate Drakes you can also expect to see BWOs, Blue Quills, Craneflys, Cahills, Yellow Sally’s, and Tricos (in the right location) while on Penns Creek.
The fly shop continues to be open 7 days a week from 9AM-5PM.
