The Green Drakes are just below Weikert. The hatch is moving up slowly this year as the water is still cold.
These hot sunny days make the day time dry fly fishing slow, but the evenings are amazing!
Hatches: GREEN DRAKES and March Browns and sulphurs and blue quills and blue wing olives and crane flies and little tan caddis and the beginning of the Slate drakes and………fantastic!
The creek is in perfect shape!
Nice work Men!
So the rain did come and the sun is peaking through and the creek is totally dry fly fishible!
The drakes are stretched from Glenn Iron to just about Weikert.
We are also getting a nice hatch of Green Drakes up stream of Coburn from the shop up to the dam.
The creek has about 3 feet of visibility and with the green drakes on, that is plenty!
Penns has been blessed with great water conditions all year and I couldn’t be happier!
Hatches: GREEN DRAKES! March Browns and sulphurs and blue quills and blue wing olives and crane flies and little tan caddis and the beginning of the Slate drakes and………WOW!
Here is a real 20″ fish that Aston guided Chris to this week!
I just got the word that THE GREEN DRAKES HAVE BEGUN!
The report came in from Glenn Iron from last night!
And so begins another year!
Penns creek is in real good condition!
Thanks for the picture buddy!
What a year! Almost everyone coming in the shop is reporting major successes…and mostly dry fly fishing!!
The hatches have been really strong and the fish have been really looking up!
Hatches: March Browns and sulphurs and blue quills and blue wing olives and crane flies and little tan caddis and the beginning of the Slate drakes and………unreal!
Hope you get a chance to come and experience this truly unusual year!
Great job PB!
Amazing to talk to all the people coming into the shop who are having success! This is Penns creek….that just isn’t the conversation I am used to having!
The water is still low for this time of year and the color is perfection!
No change in the hatches yet……
A nice fish….caught by a nice man..
