3.27.2023…Winters passing, bugs are hatching

Spring came early this year. Could not ask for nicer weather for the end of March. We could ask for more water but you can’t get everything you want.

Guided trips trips are rolling out the door and clients are walking back in with big smiles.

Hendricksons, blue winged olives,, early black stones, and midges are getting the fish going. Hard to go wrong with Hendrickson and olive nymphs.

Anglers are reporting some success with dry flies.

Our guide calendar has filled up fast. We do have at least one or two guides still available most days in April. Call the shop for availability and to book.

A big thanks to everyone who came out to the extravaganza weekend. It’s always a blast and that’s because of you! So thank you.

Taking advantage of the diverse fishing options in our neighborhood. Fly bite has been heating up on our local rivers. Pre Spawn smallies coming in hot!

8.14.2022….Summer Bouquet!

We hope that you have enjoyed your summer as much as we have. The warm water program has kept us busy. On the river, you never know what you are going to find.

Summer presents a diversity of angling opportunities. From Flies to Lures, surface to subsurface, power or finesse, we’ve got you covered!

The top water bite has been hot and it’s only getting better. If you love to cast a fly, now is your time to shine.

It’s not too late to get the kids out for a trip before school starts! If you missed out so far, call the shop at (814)349-8757 or Jonas at (814)574-9426 to book your trip!

We have been on trout water a limited amount through the summer. The early morning trips have been productive with some blue winged olive and trico action on top if you know where to look.

It is terrestrial season so make sure you have your beetles and ants with you. 1/2 day AM Guided trips are the way to go!

We’re looking forward to the cool off that fall will bring. With any luck, we’ll get some rain and water in the creeks to set us up for a killer fall! One of our favorite times of the year to be on the water. Name a prettier time of the year, we’ll wait.

Big groups welcome!

6.11.2022….DRUNELLA!!!

Another drake hatch has come and gone. The Big Blue Winged Olive is on. Slate Drakes, Cahills, Suplhurs , Blue quill, Craneflies and assorted caddis to name a few others.

We’ve got some rain and cooler temps. The fish are fat and happy.

Our stretch of water at The Feathered Hook Lodge is cold and getting summer buggy! Book your summer terrestrial trip on the coolest water around!

Summer smallmouth is heating up. Poppers, crawfish and minnows galore! Get a float with our guides targeting the pound for pound, hardest fighting freshwater fish you’re gonna find. We’d tell you it’s as much fun as you can have with your clothes on, but we’ll let you decide!

5/31/22….DRAKES EVERYWHERE

We are getting reports of Green Drakes everywhere at once because of the heat. Duns some places….coffin flys some places….mixed in others!

All sorts of bug soup!

Yeeeeaaaa!

Thanks

Jonas

Some highlights from last last few days!

Bring your kids along! We’ve got all the fly gear & equipment to get you out there and we also have conventional tackle. Groups welcome.

The heat wave of early July has seemed to brake leaving us with slightly more mild temperatures.. We are leaving the big creek alone due to warmer water temps. The lodge property is very cold and quite productive. We have guides available almost daily at the Lodge. Terrestrial Season is just getting going and don’t forget about the Night Bite. Join our Guides 1 on 1 as your we hunt for a bump in the night. Night trips typically run from 10pm-2am.( 1 angler-1 guide max)
