Penns Creek offers a mix of world-class public and private trout fishing. The upper and middle regions contain wild rainbow and browns. The lower waters include suckers, smallies, and pan fish.

The late May Green Drake hatch is considered one of the largest in the world. Hendricksons, Sulphurs, and Trico hatches are also notable.
